When shopping for the lowest mortgage rates, it is important to look at fees. Be sure to ask for all of the fees and ask for a good faith estimate when shopping for a mortgage or refinance. While it is true the fees acan be rolled up into the loan, some of these fees can be avoided if you are a smart shopper. Most lenders will charge you a 1% origination fee on top of all of the other fees you must pay, so be aware of that charge.
